The Ventura County Star reported recently that an Oak Park man was arrested Saturday after hitting a pedestrian on Westlake Boulevard.
‘The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, on the northbound side of Westlake Boulevard near its intersection with Bay Drive. A 26-year-old Oak Park resident was driving north on Westlake Boulevard when he hit a 60-year-old Calabasas man from behind as the man walked north in the bike lane, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and found that the victim was suffering from severe injuries. He was medically transported to Los Robles Health System, where he remains in recovery. Authorities have not released his current condition or further detail about his injuries.
Investigating deputies placed the driver under arrest on suspicion of one felony count of driving under the influence (DUI). The driver was not injured during the automobile accident and did not leave the scene of the accident during the response or investigation.
The Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Bureau is conducting the investigation, which currently remains in progress. Any eyewitnesses or bystanders are asked to call Deputy Jason Cashmark at (805) 947-8271 with any information that may help with the investigation.
