Toddler Killed In DUI-Related Accident

The Los Angeles Daily News reported recently that an alleged drunk driver was taken into custody in relation to a single-vehicle accident east of the Lake Los Angeles area Sunday that led to the death of a two-year-old boy in the vehicle. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. on East Avenue P, east of 240th Street. The driver, a man from California City in Kern County who is 26 years of age, was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion westbound on Avenue P when for unknown reasons yet to be determined, he veered off to the right and hit a raised dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn. The toddler was ejected from the vehicle. The toddler died from the injuries sustained in the accident. 

Two other passengers, a 23-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl, suffered minor to moderate injuries, as did the driver. 

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision and the man was booked into custody with a bail of $100,000 on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
