Suspected DUI Driver Charged with Manslaughter Following Westminster Crash

The driver of a pickup truck is facing the charge of DUI manslaughter after an alleged alcohol-fueled crash in Westminster over the weekend.

The Orange County Register reports that the fatal crash happened at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, in the 1500 block of Magnolia Street near McFadden Avenue.

Commander Kevin McCormick of the Westminster Police Department said in a statement that the driver of a pickup truck collided with a sedan. Police and paramedics responded to the scene of the crash and pronounced the 24-year-old Santa Ana man driving the sedan dead at the location of the crash.

The suspect driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Aristeo Nava-Soriano, also of Santa Ana. Nava-Soriano was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash. Immediately following his release, he was arrested for manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving without a license.

The crash remains under investigation.
