Rams Safety Pleads No Contest to “Wet Reckless” Charge

There are different grades of DUI which can be leveled against someone suspected of driving under the influence.  we have seen that happen in the courts most recently in the case of the rams’ safety TJ McDonald. He has pleaded no contest to one count of wet reckless, which is a ‘watered-down’ version of DUI.

In Mid-2016, McDonald was arrested because it was thought that prescription drugs were the cause of him striking a parked car.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge of DUI, but pleaded no contest to wet reckless.

The ‘wet reckless’ charge is ‘reckless driving with a notation of alcohol or drug involvement.’

While this is a serious penalty, the wet reckless charge does not present as many penalties as a DUI.  McDonald has to perform community service, attend drug and alcohol counseling, go through a drug program, and has three years of probation.

McDonald also has to pay a fine of nearly $2k and give restitution to the car which was struck.
