Possible DUI Crash Claims the Life of a Lake Elsinore Man

My News LA reports that a 21-year-old man has died after he lost control of his vehicle in Lake Elsinore earlier this week.

According to a statement released by the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at approximately 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 15 in the 14900 block of Amorose Street, near Grand Avenue.

Investigators say that the victim was in the residential area when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree and a fire hydrant. The vehicle struck the hydrant with enough force to shear off its top, causing a considerable water flow around the crash scene.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the crash site. Despite all life-saving attempts by first responders, the victim died at the scene of the crash.

The Eastern Municipal Water Department was dispatched to shut off the hydrant and make repairs.

As of Thursday, November 16, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office had not yet released whether alcohol and /or drugs played any role in the fatal crash. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
