Lake Elsinore Crash Injures Several Children

Crash Injures Several Children

A DUI driver might be considered lucky if he is pulled over by the police before a crash can occur.  Once a crash has occurred, the charges related to a DUI can begin to pile up.  The additional charges can complicate the matter and add severe penalties above and beyond just a DUI charge.

An early evening crash in Lake Elsinore, California on Monday, July 11 left several injured, many of them children.

According to Sherrif’s Sgt. Brett Seckinger, the crash happened around 7 p.m. Monday near West Lakeshore Drive and Hursch Street.

The first officer, who was nearby investigating an unrelated matter, heard the accident and witnessed the cars coming to rest.  He arrived on the scene within moments of the crash.

A white Chevy Astro van and a red Chevy Suburban had crashed into one another.  In the Suburban were one adult and eight children, ranging in age from 7 to 17.  All the children suffered injuries and were reporting feeling pain.

Later, the fire department called the accident a “mass casualty traffic collision” and reported that eight people were ultimately hospitalized.

The driver of the Chevy Astro van was believed to have been a DUI.  He had no injuries.

The driver of the Astro van, identified as  38-year-old Bruce Milton McCullin, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to Murrieta jail.  He was held on a bond of $50,000.
