DUI Driver Arrested After Flying Off Freeway

Key News Network reports that a motorist has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol earlier this week. 

According to a statement released by the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to dispatch reports of a vehicle that had rolled off the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway into a ditch on Monday, August 21, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The CHP officers arrived at the scene at approximately 1:41 a.m. and located the stranded sedan 100 feet down the embankment sitting upright with its front end lodged beneath a chain link fence and vegetation.

Paramedics with the Ventura City Fire Department evaluated and treated both the driver and a passenger at the scene of the crash. Their current condition was not available at the time of the report. 

California Highway Patrol officers interviewed the driver and administered field sobriety tests. The unidentified motorist was taken into custody.

Authorities believe that slick roads, speed, and intoxication all played a role in the crash.
