The Press-Democrat reported on Wednesday that a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol was arrested after he collided with another vehicle, injuring the other motorist.
According to a statement, on Tuesday, October 11, at approximately 8:55 p.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a call regarding a rollover crash with one person trapped inside the wreckage. The crash happened in the 5600 block of State Farm Drive,
Police, firefighters, and paramedics arrived on the scene to find a disabled white Subaru sedan and a gray Subaru sedan resting on its side. A woman was trapped inside the gray Subaru.
Firefighters were able to extricate the 57-year-old woman from the wreckage through the windshield of her vehicle. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect driver of the white Subaru has been identified as 31-year-old Matthew Lyons of Healdsburg. Police arrested Lyons on suspicion of DUI resulting in bodily injury and DUI with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit of 0.08%. Both are considered felonies in the state of California.
Investigators believe that Lyons was heading northbound on State Farm Drive when he crossed over the center line and into the path of the gray Subaru. The investigation is ongoing.
After being examined by doctors for minor injuries, Lyons was taken into custody and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
