In a recent article appearing on the Pasadena Now website, the Pasadena Police Department reports that a driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit and run in a crash yesterday.
Lt. Anthony Russo, with the Pasadena Police Department, told reporters that the crash happened at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Craig Avenue at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
The driver of a white sedan was driving at what police investigators say was an unsafe speed when they collided with the rear end of a white SUV. The force of the impact caused the SUV to lift up and land on top of the sedan’s hood, Lt. Russo said.
Eyewitnesses of the crash said the driver of the sedan attempted to walk away from the crash scene. Those who witnessed the collision pointed out the driver to Pasadena Police officers who responded to the accident,
Officers identified the driver as 42-year-old Henry Alexander Cabral of San Gabriel. After observing Cabral’s behavior and conducting field sobriety tests, the officers determined Cabral had been driving while under the influence of alcohol.
While no one inside the SUV was hurt, Cabral was treated for minor injuries at the scene. He was later booked into custody on the charge of DUI and hit-and-run.
Authorities have not said when Cabral is due to appear in court.
Law enforcement agencies all around Southern California are preparing for their seasonal DUI crackdown. Officials with the Pasadena Police Department say that officers will be conducting an increased number of checkpoints from August 18 through Labor Day.
Anyone spotting a potential DUI driver is encouraged to call 911.
