Carson City Sheriff’s Department Deputies Arrest Underage DUI Driver

Carson Now reports that Carson City Sheriffs’ Department deputies arrested an underage woman on the charge of DUI after she crashed her car into a ditch.

According to a recently released Carson City Sheriff’s booking report, one arrest on Friday night was an 18-year-old girl, a minor, who was arrested on suspicion of DUI and underage drinking.

The CCSD received a report at approximately 6:45 a.m. Friday morning to 5th Street Trail Head on Carson River Road regarding an accident. Dispatchers were informed of a sedan that had crashed through a fence into a ditch and that a young woman was inside the car, slumped over.

A CCSD deputy found the vehicle that was still in gear and stuck in the ditch. The female driver was unconscious, and an open bottle of wine could be seen in the front seat of the car. As she was awakened, deputies reported immediately smelling alcohol on her and observed that her eyes were red and watery.

When questioned about the incident, the girl told deputies that she didn’t want to go home and had been driving around all night. An investigation revealed that the girl had spun several doughnuts before ending up stuck in the ditch.

When asked if she had been consuming alcohol, she told the deputies she had not. Field sobriety tests indicated signs of impairment and a preliminary breathalyzer test revealed that she had a.138 blood-alcohol level.

The young woman was arrested on the charge of underage drinking and DUI. Bail was set at $1,529.
