BBC Star Admits to DUI In Order to Avoid ‘Threesome’

UK actor and cast member of the BBC’s Foyle’s War series, Honeysuckle Weeks, made international headlines earlier this week after being arrested for DUI. Weeks claims she had no choice but to get behind the wheel to avoid an unwanted ‘threesome’.

The Independent reports that Weeks admitted in court that during an incident in November, she had been expecting to stay the night at a friend’s home in Arundel, located in West Sussex. When she realized her friend had invited a lover over, she feared she would be coerced into an unwanted sexual encounter.

Despite being intoxicated, Weeks got behind the wheel of her silver Honda SUV, backed her vehicle into a parked car, and drove off. She then returned to the scene of the crash a few moments later.

Weeks was spotted by an off-duty police officer who realized that she was intoxicated and detained her at the scene. She was taken to an area police station where a breathalyzer test showed she was more than twice the legal limit in the UK.

“I was expecting to stay a night in a friend’s house in Arundel, but the man in question invited his lover to the property, and I was in danger of being coerced into sexual actions with them, which I found extremely unwelcome,” she said.

Weeks pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol before the Worthing Magistrates Court.

Weeks’ license was revoked for a period of 20 months. Because she is not currently working, she was given a reduced fine of £253 ($353 USD). She has also agreed to take a drinking and driving awareness class that would allow her to regain her driver’s license in April of 2024.
