Alleged DUI Driver Crashes Into Homecoming Parade Crowd

Homecoming week is supposed to be a time where students gather together to show their school spirit. In Stillwater, Oklahoma, where the Oklahoma State University Homecoming Parade was taking place, it was interrupted when a 2014 Hyundai Elantra crashed first into a parked police motorcycle, then crashed into a crowd of people. It has previously been traveling southbound on Main Street before the accident.

There are 3 people who are confirmed to have died as a result of their injuries in the accident. Eight additional injured were considered to be so critically hurt that they were airlifted from the scene. Seven others were seriously injured and another seven were injured, but able to walk away from the accident. Their condition at this time is unknown.

Investigators are busy attempting to recreate the scene to determine the exact cause of the incident. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody on a DUI charge. The mayor of Stillwater and the University President made statements to express their condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy.
