Woman Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Fatal Crash

The Daily Bulletin reports that a San Bernardino woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Tuesday, June 28, in relation to a fatal crash on Saturday.

According to a statement released by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Archibald Avenue near the Pacific Electric Trail crossing. An eyewitness told deputies that a black Acura TSX heading southbound on Archibald had blown through a red light and struck a bicyclist.

The bicyclist sustained major injuries in the crash. Paramedics responding to the accident pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.

The driver of the Acura has been identified as 19-year-old Jessica Carillo of San Bernardino. According to official reports, Carillo remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigating officers.

After a series of field sobriety and a breathalyzer test, deputies determined that Carrillo had been driving under the influence of alcohol prior to the fatal crash.

Carillo was placed under arrest on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing injury or death, and DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
