Underage Motorist in a Rented Truck Arrested for DUI

Mercury News reports that a 20-year-old New Jersey man was arrested in Pacifica for DUI after he crashed a rented truck into another vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. 

A spokesperson for the Pacifica Police Department told reporters that officers responded to a call regarding a hit-and-run incident at a parking lot located in the 5200 block of Cabrillo Highway on Sunday, August 20, at approximately 5:22 p.m.

The officers arrived on the scene to see a damaged Tesla that had been hit by a white Ford F150 pickup truck. Officers later spotted the truck when it blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Crespi Drive and Seville Drive. Officers searched the registration information and determined that it was a rental vehicle. 

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Officers pulled the vehicle over. When approaching the truck, police noted that the driver displayed signs of intoxication by alcohol or drugs and conducted a field sobriety test.

While interviewing the driver, the officers determined that the man was underage. The unidentified motorist was arrested on suspicion of DUI hit-and-run, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving under the influence while under 21 years of age.
