Underage Drunk Driver Injures Officers

We can all agree that underage drinking is not a good thing. Being underage, drunk, and hitting a police car could possibly make the day one of the worst a young girl has ever experienced.

A California Highway Patrol officer and a sergeant were injured during a crash early Friday. The crash involved an underage and suspected drunken driver.

The crash occurred at about 1 a.m. at the intersection of Los Coches Road and Julian Avenue in Lakeside.

19-year-old Cerys C. Mulvey was behind the wheel of a gray Hyundai Accent driving westbound when she drove through a red light. She slammed into the marked SUV of the two CHP officers.

Following the crash, both officers were taken to a hospital with bruises and minor injuries. They were later released. Mulvey and her three passengers were also injured in the crash. All four of the occupants were taken to hospitals.

CHP officer Kevin Pearlstein said that evidence at the crash scene indicated that drugs and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. Crash scene photos showed several liquor bottles allegedly found in the car.

After her release from the hospital, Mulvey was booked into the Los Colinas Detention Facility. She was charged under suspicion of DUI.
