Topanga Beach Accident Is A Possible DUI

LA’s Very Own KTLA Channel 5 News reported recently that a Topanga Beach accident on Thursday, March 4, 2021 is being investigated as a possible incidence of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by the California Highway Patrol.

According to a news release issued by the Los Angeles County Fire Department as well as information from the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at the intersection of the Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard between 8:20 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Thursday, March 4, 2021. The driver of a dark green Chevrolet Camaro allegedly struck a dark colored Ford SUV that was parked alongside the roadway, and the force of the impact redirected his car into the Topanga Beach sands. The vehicle came to rest nose-down in the sand in coastal brush along a beachside bluff. A tow truck was required to extricate the Camaro from the beach area.

The Camaro driver was hospitalized with slight injuries and CHP officials stated he would have toxicology samples taken at the hospital for analysis to check if the accident was a DUI event. There were no other injuries as a result of the crash. 

The incident remains under investigation and no further details were made available.
