Three-Car Collision on 11th Street

Many people think that they may still be okay to drive after a few drinks.  These people certainly do not expect to cause an accident.  However, when they do, they can face serious, life-altering charges in the aftermath of their decision to drink and drive.

At around 11:30 a.m., east of Tracy, a suspected drunk driver triggered a three-car collision.  Three people were injured in the accident and it left traffic snarled for over an hour.

According to the CHP, a 38-year-old man was driving the wrong way along 11th Street and collided with a 47-year old man driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck.  The 38-year-old was driving a 2008 Hyundai Azera.

The impact of the accident sent the truck into a nearby field, where it eventually came to rest.

The Hyundai continued and hit another pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old.  This collision sent the Hyundai spinning across the median.

The three vehicles and the debris from the accident were spread across the length of a football field.

Traffic was brought to a halt as CHP and firefighters came to the aid of the victims.

Both the drivers of the Hyundai and the GMC Sierra were trapped in their vehicles and had to be cut from the wreckage.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered a broken leg and was later arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence.  The driver of the first truck also suffered a broken leg.  The driver of the second truck suffered lacerations.  All were transported to local hospitals.
