There are many responses that you can have when you get pulled over. It’s okay to be a little nervous or even scared. But fighting or running from the police only gives them an excuse to use force against you and gives prosecutors the evidence they need to put you away.
The actions of one man after a traffic stop on I-15 aren’t going to do him much good. CHP near Riverside pulled over a man that they thought was driving while drunk. During the stop, the driver became “extremely uncooperative” verbally. When the man started moving to his car, the officer took cover.
This was a wise action. The driver pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the patrol vehicle, disabling it before fleeing. The officer called for additional units and they came out in force. The driver continued to fire shots back at the officers during the chase.
Eventually, the driver stopped his vehicle and tried to flee on foot. A shootout ensued. No officers were harmed, but the man was hit. It is unknown if he was killed or just injured in the firefight.
