Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Down 300-foot Embankment

Anyone who has ever been in and survived a rollover crash can tell you it’s a terrifying experience. Once a rollover crash begins, there is no sense of control or direction until the vehicle you are in finally comes to rest. In a rollover crash, the chances of being ejected from the car, being left seriously injured, or worse, is all but guaranteed.

CBS in Los Sacramento reports that a driver believed to have been under the influence of alcohol is extremely lucky after they crashed their vehicle. The accident sent the car rolling several times down a 300-foot embankment before finally coming to a rest.

A spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department said that dispatchers received a call for an accident in the Rivergrade area. In addition to first responders, several agencies were dispatched to the scene, including the Auburn Fire Department, Cal Fire, and the California Highway Patrol.

First responders were able to assist the driver in getting back up the embankment. The driver was examined by paramedics at the scene and then transported via ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Investigators believe that alcohol played a significant role in the rollover crash. Authorities have not released any further information about the driver or what charges they may be facing.

The accident is currently under investigation.
