Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Crash Leaves 2 Injured

Patch.com reports that police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of DUI after a collision on Sunday morning.

According to a statement made by the Seal Beach Police Department, the incident took place at approximately 1:12 a.m. at the Taco Surf Restaurant located at 16281 Pacific Coast Highway when a motorist crashed into the building.

Lt. Nicholas told reporters that officers responded to the scene and found 22-year-old Ted Lorenzo Ramirez and two other adult males who were injured in the crash.

One of the men received several fractures and other non-life-threatening injuries, while the second man also suffered fractures and major head trauma. The second man was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Orange County authorities say that he is currently in critical condition.

Seal Beach Police Chief Phillip Gonshak told reporters that the crash was “very tragic” and entirely preventable.

“There is no excuse for driving drunk,” Chief Gonshak said. “If you are planning on drinking, use a ride share service or designate a sober driver.”

The other occupants of the vehicle identified the driver, and Ramirez was placed under arrest by Seal Beach Police officers. He was booked into Orange County Jail and released later Sunday on bond.

This is a developing story. No further information was available at the time of the report.
