Singer DaniLeigh Arrested for DUI Hit-and-Run

Billboard reports that singer DaniLeigh was arrested early Tuesday, May 30 on the charge of DUI hit-and-run.

According to the arrest report filed by the Miami Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched after eyewitnesses saw a gray Mercedes-Benz traveling at a high rate of speed strike a moped. The driver did not stop after the collision.

One witness to the incident told police that “multiple people attempted to get the driver’s attention and advise her that she was dragging the moped,” but were unsuccessful.

An officer responding to the call eventually pulled over the Mercedes. The officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the woman who was behind the wheel. She showed the officer her driver’s license identifying her as Danielle Curiel, the artist’s birth name.

Curiel reportedly failed to perform the standard field sobriety tests. Two breathalyzer tests administered showed that Curiel had a blood-alcohol level between .145 and .148 percent – almost twice the legal level of .08 percent.

Curiel was arrested and charged with three separate felony charges: Driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and damage to property or person.

The moped driver was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Officials say that the driver suffered a kidney laceration, and a spinal fracture. The injuries are not considered life-threatening and the moped driver is expected to recover.

Billboard has reached out to DaniLeigh’s representative for comment. No comment had been made by the time of the report.
