Redding Woman Arrested for DUI and Child Abduction

Action News reports that a 31-year-old Redding woman has been arrested on several charges, including child abduction, felony child endangerment, and driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.

According to a statement released by the Anderson Police Department, dispatchers received a report of a child abduction near just after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5.

Authorities say the incident took place in the 3600 block of Webster Drive when 31-year-old Antonia Clayborne allegedly abducted her biological child from a residence and drove away.

Court documents indicate that Clayborne lost custody of her child in a pending child endangerment case from February 2022.

An officer with the Anderson Police Department spotted Clayborne’s vehicle at a gas station near the intersection of West Center Street and Briggs Street. Officers determined that Clayborne was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She was detained by officers and taken into custody.

The child was found safe and has been returned to the custody of family members.

Monday’s incident is the second of a similar child abduction for Clayborne involving her child. She also has a pending case against her for child abduction in May 2022. In the prior incident, Clayborne turned herself in to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
