Oceanside Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash. DUI Suspected.

Fox affiliate KSWB-TV in San Diego reports that a man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Oceanside. The driver of the vehicle he was in has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A spokesperson for the Oceanside Police Department said in a statement to the press that the fatal crash happened at approximately 1:54 a.m. near the intersection of State Route 76 and Airport Road.

Investigators say that the driver of a 2003 Nissan Maxima was heading eastbound on State Route 76 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off the south side of the roadway and into a large tree. 

Paramedics and officers with the Oceanside Police Department responded to the crash scene and discovered a male passenger in his 30s in the car’s back seat. The man was declared dead at the scene. 

Investigating officers say that the driver and a front-seat passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles or injuries were reported.

The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Guillermo Sanchez Pacheo of Oceanside. Pacheo was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and gross vehicular manslaughter.
