Motorist Suspected of DUI After Crashing Into Two Garages in Anaheim

KTLA reports that a driver is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after he crashed into several detached garages in Orange Sunday night.

Just before 6:00 p.m., Orange Police Department officers and the Anaheim Fire Department responded to a 911 dispatch report of a crash at 419 Cliftwood Avenue.

Captain Ryan Lazar with the Anaheim Fire Department told reporters that the driver of a black Chevrolet pickup truck had obviously lost control of his vehicle while driving in the residential area. After hitting the first garage, the force of impact launched the truck into the second structure.

“It went through one garage and lodged into a second detached garage,” Captain Lazar said.

Video taken by OnScene.TV shows heavy damage to the first garage, and the pickup truck lodged into the left side of the second garage, where it came to rest. City building inspectors red-tagged the first garage structure as being unfit for entry. The estimated cost of the damage caused by the suspect has not yet been released.

The suspect driver remained at the scene of the crash, and police officers put him through a series of field sobriety tests.

Anaheim authorities have not released any information about the suspect.
