Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter For DUI Wreck

CBS Channel 2 KCAL Channel 9 Los Angeles News reported recently that a Los Angeles man pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter on Friday for his role in a 2019 DUI-related motor vehicle accident in Anaheim.

The original incident took place on March 13, 2019 in Anaheim, around 2:50 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in Anaheim, according to officials from the California Highway Patrol. A Los Angeles man 32 years of age was driving a car when it crashed into a 2019 Freightliner box truck. His passenger, a Los Angeles man 28 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The truck driver was uninjured. 

The driver admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and the criminal complaint noted he was driving at an unsafe speed and driving distracted. He is scheduled to be sentenced in February. 

Patch noted that a man 31 years of age was arrested Monday for suspicion of DUI after crashing his sedan head-on into another car, causing serious injuries to both occupants of the other vehicle. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning in Spring Valley, on Jamacha Boulevard near Kempton Street.
