Man Faces DUI Manslaughter Charges Following Fatal Crash in Westminster

According to a report on the Patch.com website, on Monday, a 19-year-old Orange County man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter following a  fatal crash in Westminster on Thursday.  

The crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old Huntington Beach girl and left a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old injured.

The driver has been identified as Jayson Otto. Investigators with the Westminster Police Department say that Otto was driving a vehicle carrying three passengers when he lost control of his car and crashed into a concrete barricade at a sewer construction site near the intersection of Westminster Boulevard and Rancho Road.

First responders arrived at the scene. Despite all life-saving efforts, the 18-year-old girl died at the scene due to injuries she sustained in the crash.

The 16-year-old and 17-year-old, along with Otto, were rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. The two passengers were said to have undergone surgery. Their current condition was not available at the time of the report.

Otto was eventually arrested on the charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Authorities are waiting on the final results of blood and toxicology tests.
