Man Charged with DUI for Intentionally Crashing His SUV Into a Restaurant

My News LA reports that a man is being sought for DUI and destruction of property after he got into an argument with two women and intentionally drove his SUV through the front of a Palmdale restaurant Sunday night.

Lt. Steve Sgrignoli with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station told reporters that the incident happened at approximately 9:55 p.m. at the El Cevichazo Restaurant located in the 2700 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.

Investigators said that the man had attempted to pick up one of the women in the restaurant. When he was rebuffed, an argument ensued. During the confrontation, the man allegedly was throwing things around and defaced property inside the restaurant. He then stormed outside, got into his red SUV, and deliberately drove it through the plate glass window at the front of the establishment.

He then put his vehicle in reverse and fled the scene.

Authorities believe that man was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time. Thankfully, no one inside the restaurant was injured. Los Angeles County authorities estimate that the damage to the restaurant was structural, and will cost more than $10,000 to repair.

The suspect remains at large. No further information was available at the time of the report.
