LAPD to Conduct Widespread DUI Enforcement for the Labor Day Holiday

West Side Today reports that the Los Angeles Police Department announced it will be conducting several DUI saturation patrols and checkpoints throughout the greater Los Angeles Area for several days. The announcement comes just ahead of the Labor Day Holiday.

A spokesperson for the LAPD said that the operations aim to deter and apprehend motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The law enforcement agency advises the public to prioritize safe and sober driving practices for the rest of the summer season.

The LAPD has released the dates and areas where their operations will be conducted. 

On Wednesday, August 30 

  • A DUI saturation patrol in the Pacific Area from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

On Friday, September 1

  • A DUI saturation patrol in the Newton Area from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • A DUI checkpoint at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Union Avenue from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • A DUI checkpoint at the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Ocean Avenue from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

On Saturday, September 2

  • A DUI saturation patrol in the Pacific Area from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • A DUI saturation patrol in the South Bureau Area from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

On Sunday, September 3

  • A DUI saturation patrol in the South Bureau Area from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

The LAPD also announced it has deployed additional officers to be on patrol from August 16 to Labor Day, September 4. The increased patrols are a part of the Nationwide campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”

The funding for the LAPD’s DUI enforcement campaigns is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Administration.
