LAPD Pursuit of DUI Suspect Ends in 4 Arrests

ABC News reports Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers pursued an SUV on Wednesday evening. The chase ended in four people being arrested.

Authorities say that the pursuit of a white SUV began in East Los Angeles with deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office and concluded with CHP officers stopping the driver in an alleyway near Washington Boulevard and Fourth Street in Montebello.

According to the report, Air7 HD was over the chase as the suspect headed onto the 101 Freeway in the Boyle Heights area. He then exited the freeway and traveled on surface streets into a residential neighborhood in Montebello.

The suspect driver had stopped to speak to a woman he knew. CHP officers caught up to the suspect at approximately 10:00 p.m. and ordered the suspect out of the vehicle with their weapons drawn.

As the suspect complied and got out of the car, the woman yelled at the officers and stepped between the suspect and the officers to shield him.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident while the woman, who was also handcuffed, resisted. Officers wrestled her to the ground while two more suspects were ordered out of the vehicle. They were also taken into custody.

Law enforcement authorities had not released any further information at the time of the report.
