Lane Drift Causes Fiery Crash In Exeter

Today’s DUI story comes from nearby Tulare County and the Sun Gazette. An alleged DUI driver from Exeter collided with another vehicle and caused many injuries.

The driver was on Highway 137. California Highway Patrol said that the driver drifted into the other lane due to intoxication. It was around 9:30 in the evening. A head-on collision happened that caused one of the cars to roll over and catch fire. Luckily, other drivers stopped and put out the flames before rescuers arrived. They also rolled the vehicle back over.

The crash was so strong that both drivers had to be cut out of their vehicles. Four people were in the other car, including two very young children. All had to be taken to local hospitals for treatment. The driver responsible for the crash was also taken to the hospital and charged for drunk driving and causing injuries.

The article doesn’t go into detail about why the officers thought the driver was drunk, however. It’s understandable. Police usually don’t want to give away any evidence before a possible trial unless it’s clear-cut. But a skilled DUI lawyer can challenge whatever evidence the police have to attempt to clear the name of the accused.
