Lancaster Accident Reportedly Due to DUI

A man is dead and an injured woman is in police custody after a single-vehicle car accident in Lancaster that reportedly was blamed on driving under the influence.  

MyNewsLA.com reports on a suspected DUI crash Saturday in Lancaster, California, that left the driver in jail and his passenger in the morgue after running a stop sign and leaving the roadway.

According to reports from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place at 4 am on Saturday at the intersection of West Avenue E and 30th Street West in Lancaster.

A 2014 Scion tC, westbound on Avenue E, failed to stop at the intersection despite a posted stop sign, although their exact speed was undetermined. The driver lost control of the Scion tC and it left the roadway, impacting a dirt berm alongside the road. 

The passenger, a 36-year-old Lancaster man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver, a 33-year-old Lancaster woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an area hospital. At the hospital, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She is being held on bail, according to California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Sheriff spokespeople.
