Infant Killed in a Multi-Vehicle Crash, 2 Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

KTLA recently reported that a multi-vehicle crash in Paramount ended in a baby’s death and the injury of at least six other people on Wednesday night. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A spokesperson with the Los Angeles Fire Department told KTLA that the four-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, happened just after 10:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the 710 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue. 

Video footage taken from the KTLA Sky5 helicopter showed one of the vehicles was overturned in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the accident scene. A baby younger than one-year-old was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. The child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the trauma center.

Authorities say that at least six other people were injured in the accident. However, their current condition was not released at the time of the report,

In a statement, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies arrested two people at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

No further details about those who were taken into custody were available at the time of the report.
