Father of KC Chiefs Quarterback Arrested for Third DUI

The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was arrested in Tyler Texas over the weekend – just days before the Super Bowl.

MSN reports that 53-year-old Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested by officers from the Tyler Police Department and later released on Sunday on a $ 10,000 bond.

On Thursday, Mahomes Sr. told CNN he was planning to be at the game to watch his son hopefully lead Kansas City to victory. Mahomes Sr.’s arrest on Sunday comes just 8 days before his son and the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jail records indicate that since 2009 Mahomes Sr. has been booked at least 11 times. This is his third DUI arrest. In 2018, he pleaded guilty and spent 40 days in jail. Mahomes Sr. was also arrested for public intoxication in 2016.

Mahomes Sr. is a former Major League Baseball player who played 11 seasons for six separate teams from 1992 until 2003.

A request was submitted to Mahomes Sr.’s representatives, his attorneys, and the Tyler Police Department. So far none has responded.

Since this is Mahomes Sr.’s third DUI arrest, if convicted, he is facing 2 to 10 years in prison.
