DUI Suspect Kills Man In Garden Grove Wreck

ABC Channel 7 News Los Angeles reported recently on a tragic motor vehicle accident in Garden Grove that occurred when a DUI suspect rear-ended another car, killing the driver, late in the evening of Saturday, May 8, 2021. 

According to a news release issued by officials with the Garden Grove Police Department, the incident took place between 10:50 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday, May 8, 2021 near the intersection of Woodbury Road and Libby Lane in Garden Grove, California. Garden Grove Police and Orange County Fire Authority personnel were dispatched to the area in response to an emergency call about the accident. 

Investigators found that a man had been speeding eastbound on Woodbury Road in a white Nissan Titan pickup truck when he failed to stop for a black Toyota Camry sedan that had been stopped at the intersection. He rear-ended the Camry, causing it to be pushed all the way through the intersection and into two parked cars. The Titan, meanwhile, crashed into a retaining wall on the north side of the street, and the driver fled on foot. He was apprehended by police shortly thereafter. 

The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was taken to UCI Medical Center with minor injuries.
