DUI-Related Pursuit Involves Truck Belonging To Celebrity DJ

NBC Channel 4 News Los Angeles reported that a police pursuit last Wednesday involving a $350K heavily customized Ford pickup truck owned by a celebrity DJ was believed to be related to driving under the influence (DUI) and ended in a titanic crash that brought down a light pole in the San Fernando Valley.

Press attention was called to the incident around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when Newschopper 4 arrived over the pursuit, at that time in progress with the driver of the Ford speeding down the 101 Freeway near Balboa Boulevard.

According to officials from the Lost Hills Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began in the Malibu area, where the driver of the highly modified Ford 6X6, valued at $350,000 and customized at a Salt Lake City shop, was wanted for a possible DUI. DJ Marshmello, the owner of the truck, had reportedly texted the shop earlier that day to say the truck had been stolen.

The pursuit was complicated by the size and weight of the truck, making it difficult to stop despite the dangerous driving of the truck driver. However, he maneuvered into a Taco Bell lot and hit a pole near the intersection of Goldwater Canyon Avenue and Vanowen Street, forcing him to surrender to authorities.
