DUI Pursuit Crosses LA Area

NBC Channel 4 News Los Angeles reported recently on a police pursuit of a driver suspected of driving while intoxicated in the Los Angeles area Wednesday, September 23, leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through East Los Angeles, South Pasadena, Pasadena, Glendale, and near Dodger Stadium.

According to the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station, the driver of a black sedan was wanted for reckless driving and also suspected of driving under the influence. News chopper 4 observed the vehicle going as fast as 115 mph on freeways around Los Angeles, as well as ignoring signals and speed limits on surface streets, even weaving around dividers and into oncoming lanes of traffic to pass stopped cars.

Around 8:40 p.m., the suspect entered the 210 Freeway, hitting 110 miles per hour, and then reaching 115 mph on the 134 freeway before taking the Glendale exit. The driver passed Dodger Stadium around 8:50 a.m.

Due to flight restrictions in the airspace around Dodger Stadium, the news helicopter was forced to break off and lost sight of the vehicle and police units in pursuit. It was unclear what the final outcome of the pursuit was.
