DUI Motorist Arrested for Possession of Drugs & Firearms

My News LA reports a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and allegedly possessing narcotics and a loaded firearm on Friday.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department spotted Gonzalo Hernandez of Murrieta in the 1000 block of North State Street driving erratically and believed he may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The deputies followed Hernandez who attempted to hide by pulling into a drive-through at a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Deputies approached Hernandez’ vehicle and found him asleep at the wheel.

After Hernandez had exited his vehicle, deputies began a search of the car and found a loaded firearm, more than six ounces of heroin, over two ounces of methamphetamine, and $800 in cash.

A further investigation by the deputies at the scene revealed that the vehicle Hernandez was driving was reported stolen out of Temecula.

Hernandez was placed under arrest on charges of DUI, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, and other related charges. Later that afternoon, Hernandez was booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

The incident is still currently under investigation.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department asks anyone with any information about the suspect to contact Deputy Cormier at the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station at (951) 654-2702.
