DUI Driver Charged with Murder After Moreno Valley Crash Kills 2

The Riverside County News Source reported over the weekend that a Los Angeles woman had been arrested on two counts of DUI murder after a crash in Moreno Valley on Thursday, December 2, 2021.

A Moreno Valley Police Department spokesperson said that the fatal crash happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Alessandro Boulevard, west of Heacock Street.

Investigators say based on a reconstruction of the crash; a black 2002 Acura MDX was traveling westbound on Alessandro Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it collided with the passenger side of a blue 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander as it was making a left turn into a business center on the eastbound side of the street.

The driver of the Mitsubishi and a passenger suffered critical injuries and had to be extricated from their demolished SUV. Paramedics and firefighters with the Moreno Valley Fire Department attempted to save the couple, an 80-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman.  However, despite all of their lifesaving efforts, the couple died at the scene.

A front-seat passenger in the Acura suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The female driver of the Acura suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

Police have arrested 42-year-old Wendy Aguilar of Los Angeles at the scene of the fatal crash after officers determined she was driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and charged with second-degree murder and felony DUI. They also added sentencing enhancements to the charges due to the severity of the injuries to her passenger.

The Moreno Valley Officials are asking anyone with any further information to contact Deputy Patrick Lynch of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at (951) 486-6868 or (951) 776-1099. Those who wish to remain anonymous can refer to incident file MV213360268.
