DUI Driver Arrested Following Fatal Head-On Collision in Santa Rosa

Hoodline reports that a suspected DUI motorist crashed head-on with another driver in Santa Rosa on Saturday, claiming the life of one person.

In a statement, the Santa Rosa Station of the California Highway Patrol said that dispatchers received a call at approximately 5:13 p.m. regarding a crash on Roblar Road near the intersection of Roblar and Stony Point Road.

CHP officers, firefighters, and paramedics were dispatched to the crash scene. Emergency personnel pronounced a male driver dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol Investigators determined that a female driver of a Volvo SUV was traveling westbound on Roblar Road when she allowed her vehicle to drift over the double yellow line and into the opposite lane. The Volvo collided head-on with an eastbound Toyota pickup truck driven by the victim.

Firefighters were able to extricate the woman from the wreckage of her vehicle and transported her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major but not life-threatening injuries. Toxicology tests determined that she had been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal crash.

Following her treatment and stabilization, the unidentified woman was placed under arrest.

The accident is currently under investigation. The California Highway Patrol asks anyone with any further information about the incident to contact the CHP’s Santa Rosa Office at (707) 588-1400.
