DUI Driver Arrested Following Fatal Crash on Mountain Road

The Sacramento Bee reports that a 22-year-old man has been arrested following a head-on collision on a mountain road in Yuba County on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Quincy La Porte Road in the foothills of Yuba County, just south of Woodleaf and Forbestown Roads.  

Investigators say that the 22-year-old driver of a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck collided head-on with a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer at an unknown speed. The 59-year-old male driver of the Blazer suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old Dobbins man in the pickup truck was taken to a hospital for the injuries he suffered in the crash. The CHP said that the motorist “showed objective signs and symptoms of drug impairment; however, officials have not disclosed what the motorist was impaired by. 

The unidentified DUI suspect was arrested immediately after being released by doctors. He was booked into the Yuba County Jail on the charges of Driving While Impaired and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. A Yuba County judge has set the defendant’s bond at $250,000.
