DUI Crash In Desert Hot Springs Leaves 4 Injured

News LA reports that a suspected DUI crash in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 9, 2021, left four people injured. Two of those injured in the accident were children.

According to a statement issued by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 2:31 a.m. on 20th Street.

Police investigators determined that a 21-year-old male driver of a white Lexus traveling westbound on 20th Street blew through a stop sign at the intersection of 20th and Palm Drive. The Lexus collided with a white Chevrolet sedan that was being driven by a 36-year-old woman heading southbound on Palm.

Inside the vehicle with the woman were her two children. Authorities had not released the age of the children at the time of the report.

Paramedics were also dispatched to the scene of the crash. The driver of the Lexus was reported to have suffered major injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. The current condition of the driver is unknown.

The mother who had been driving the Chevrolet and her two children complained of pain immediately following the accident. They were also taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Police detectives believe that alcohol did play a role in the crash. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

The accident is still currently under investigation.
