  • A saturation patrol will be held in the South Bureau Area from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Authorities say DUI saturation checkpoints are chosen based on data from previous DUI arrests or crashes. The emphasis is not on increasing the number of arrests but on keeping impaired drivers off our streets, roads, and communities safe.

The Los Angeles Police Department will be looking for drivers who are impaired by alcohol and marijuana as well as some prescription or over-the-counter drugs.

In a statement, the LAPD reminds motorists that even those charged with DUI for the first time can expect to face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and a suspended license for a year.

Funding for the checkpoint has been provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety and through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
