KHTS AM 1220 FM 98.1 Hometown Station News reported recently that an accident in Newhall damaging multiple vehicles on Wednesday, November 18 was believed to be related to driving under the influence (DUI).
The incident took place just before 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of 15th Street and Railroad Avenue in Newhall, less than a block away from Fire Station 73, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. They stated they received a call to respond from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office with information that there was a three-vehicle traffic collision with people trapped, which turned out not to be the case as no one was trapped. However, no major injuries were reported in the incident.
According to first responders, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene to perform field sobriety tests on the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.
As of 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night, the cause of the wreck was still under investigation by officials. 15th Street is expected to be blocked for an unknown amount of time between Railroad Avenue and Walnut Avenue for cleanup, so emergency officials can investigate the accident.
