Former child-star Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson made national headlines when she was a passenger in a vehicle in which the driver led Monroe County Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Deputies on an alcohol-fueled chase this week.
According to a story reported by Penn Live, Thompson was a passenger in a car being driven by her boyfriend, 21-year-old Dralin Carswell.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, when Cpl. Jaleel Brown ran the license plate of Carswell’s Dodge Charger that was stopped at a local gas station. The deputy found an outstanding arrest warrant and attempted to approach the vehicle. Instead, Carswell took off and engaged the officer in a three-mile car chase.
Cpl. Brown used a PIT maneuver to spin Carswell’s vehicle around and disable it. When searching the car, investigating officers found marijuana. Carswell was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics.
A second passenger, and owner of the vehicle, 24-year-old Julian Malik Divon Williams, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Thompson, 17, was not arrested. However, prosecutors say she is a witness in the incident. She was picked up later that day by her sister, Lauren Shannon “Pumpkin” Efrid.
No further information was available at the time of the report.
