California is a place that many international tourists visit each year, each with the intention of seeing the bright lights of the city. While seeking out these sights, many rely on rideshares and other transportation to get around. Usually, Uber or Lyft is a safe way to get around after a night of revelry or to see the sights. Unfortunately, not everyone is so responsible. ABC 7 reports on an accident that has left a young model in critical condition.
Iryna Kuzmenko was being responsible by sharing an Uber with three friends at about 6 a.m. New Year’s Day after spending the previous night out with friends.
Unfortunately, a driver who was going in excess of the speed limit and believed to have been drunk slammed into the Uber carrying Kuzmenko and her friends after blowing through a stop sign.
Now, Kuzmenko, a young Ukranian model, just wants to know when she will be able to go back to work.
The reality is that she may be in the hospital for at least a few more weeks. She is unable to move from the shoulders down. She may never be able to walk again. She is also suffering from brain damage.
Another of the victims, Eugene Eufemi, only recently emerged from a coma. A lawsuit was filed on his behalf against the Uber driver and the drunk driver who slammed into the car they were riding in.
Good Samaritans at the scene of the accident were able to chase down the offender.
