Woman Sentenced For Fresno DUI

Yahoo! News, ABC Channel 30 Action News, and the Fresno Bee all reported recently on the sentencing of a woman convicted of her role in a DUI crash that led to the death of an elderly couple in Fresno County in November 2019.

A woman from Tranquility, 42 years of age, was sentenced on Thursday, December 17 for driving while intoxicated in an incident that killed an elderly couple, a man 79 years of age and a woman 75 years of age, in the western part of Fresno County on November 6, 2019.’ Officials from the California Highway Patrol stated the woman was driving south on Colorado Avenue near the intersection of Colorado and Sumner Avenue at approximately 3:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) in a Honda CR-V compact SUV when she rear-ended the Mercedes-Benz occupied by the elderly couple.

This sent the Mercedes-Benz hurtling into the northbound lane where it hit a pickup truck driven by another Tranquility woman 38 years of age, who had a one-year-old baby in the car with her. Both the pickup truck occupants suffered injuries and were treated at Community Regional Medical Center. The convicted woman admitted she had used both amphetamines and marijuana before the deadly accident. She pled guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated as well as other charges.
