Woman Killed In Alleged DUI Accident

NBC Channel 4 Local News Los Angeles reported recently that a teenage driver will likely be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants after an accident in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 28, 2021 that killed one person and injuring three others, including himself. 

According to officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Operations Center of the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident was reported between 11:15 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2021, along the 9500 block of North Van Nuys Boulevard in Los Angeles. A young driver, 19 years of age, rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The impact was forceful enough that responding firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue tools to pull victims from the wreckage, and four victims were medically transported by paramedics to area hospitals. A woman 25 years of age was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. 

The 19-year-old that allegedly caused the accident was hospitalized with injuries but is expected to be taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after being released from emergency medical care. The accident is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
