Woman And Unborn Child Killed In Lancaster DUI Accident

ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported on a tragic incident involving a driver allegedly driving under the influence (DUI) that led to the death of a woman and her unborn child in Lancaster, California on Monday. 

The incident began around 9:45 p.m. on Monday when a man was spotted by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy driving erratically in a Dodge Ram pickup truck, eastbound on Avenue K at 12th Street West. The deputy attempted to execute a traffic stop but the man would not pull over, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit continued on Avenue J-8 toward 10th Street West, where the suspect failed to stop for a red light at a traffic signal and collided with a red Dodge Avenger that was lawfully crossing the intersection. He then proceeded to flee the scene of the accident on foot. 

The driver of the Dodge Avenger was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where both she and her unborn child succumbed to injuries sustained during the car wreck. Her identity has not been released pending notification of her next of kin.
