Well-Known Actor Arrested For DUI In Malibu

Channel 2 KCAL Channel 9 CBS Los Angeles News reported recently that well-known actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in the Los Angeles suburb of Malibu last Sunday afternoon, according to an official from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. 

The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, when Meyers was involved in a minor car accident at the corner of Las Flores Canyon Road and Las Flores Mesa Drive, according to sources from the LA Sheriff’s Office. The accident reportedly only involved a single vehicle, and although Meyers was taken into custody, he has since been released and has an appearance in court scheduled for February 25.

The actor, an Irishman 43 years of age, is known for his portrayal of King Henry VIII in “The Tudors,” a historical drama that played from 2007 through 2010, playing the title character in “Dracula,” and portraying Bishop Heahmund in the hit series “Vikings.” He’s also known for his work in Hollywood movies, having played memorable roles in hit films such as  “Alexander,” “Bend It Like Beckham,” and “Mission Impossible III.”

He has reportedly had substance abuse issues and received treatment for them in past years.
