Was it DUI or Fatigue in this Crash?

Late-night driving is a prime cause for getting involved in a DUI accident. Many people choose to drink at night. But it’s also a time for fatigued driving which can simulate the same effects. This latest case in Huntington Beach is a possible example, though the police are treating it as a DUI.

The LA Times reported on the crash, which happened around 3:30 in the morning. The crash happened at Springdale and Edinger. A Chrysler crashed into another vehicle, then crashed into a power pole. It is unknown what the exact circumstances were, but the Chrysler driver was arrested under suspicion for DUI.

Two people in the other vehicle were injured, one of them severely when they were ejected from the vehicle.

An arrest under suspicion of DUI means that the officers want to do more testing back at the station. Perhaps field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer were inconclusive and so they want to make sure. Refusing to take a sobriety test is a sure way to end up inside of a courtroom because the police will assume you have something to hide. Never refuse a breath test or blood test unless your lawyer tells you to do so.

Hopefully, this case was caused by fatigue and not intoxication.
